Marita now has body image issues for sure.
I appreciate your comments:)
At my age who cares about sexy clothes when there's good food to be eaten!
I know it, Mo; I'm at the point where a good meal is the sexiest thing in my life!
Appearance might make you look and want to meet a person but it won't keep you talking to them. There has to be some thing more.
So true. And mainstream standards of male & female attractiveness are so narrow. I tend to watch mostly non-US TV and movies because of the greater variety of faces & bodies. US media is mostly populated by model-actors who vary mostly via their hair color -- what a bore.
How do all those pretty lady detectives chase criminals over roof tops etc. while they are wearing high heels?
I know, sheesh, I can't even walk across the floor in high heels much less rooftops.
I like the dialogue, the expressions and the colors on this page. The way Marita's sleeves (and the shiny/glossiness of the dress) look in the last panel is very interesting. Keep it up!
I really like playing w/the contrast between "diaphanous" and the appearance of raw brutestrength.:)
Indeed! I was just thinking seriously about it and I can understand Marita's concerns about how Gary might perceive her. While love ought to conquer all, it doesn't always. Some guys really are intimidated by "stronger women" (whether physically or personality-wise).
Personally, I don't get that. When my wife was in the military, she could easily pick me up but I thought it was cool. Maybe Gary will be the same-?
Imho, "strong women" can terrify men who secretly feel "weak." A man who feels innately strong w/in himself has no reason to be threatened and is blessed by a greater range of attractions! So, jas, rock on w/being a truly strong man.:)
I like this comic because it's a clear and realistic portrayal of the sad social and psychological state of young women in the 21st century. This poor woman is so focused on pleasing that guy she dreams of that she doesn't realize that, as a human being, she is enough, she is sufficient and doesn't need validation from anyone except for the personal validation that comes from personal excellence. Good job. I also like how your abilities are progressing.
Spot on perception. Thank you, Ed!
